Climate of the forested highland region and the hilly sand and clay regions

The forested highland region

The forested highland region cover 3/4 or 75% of Guyana . It is very mountainous and covered with very tall rain forest trees. The climate of this region is rainfall all year round and hot climate. The rain from this region fill our creeks and rivers that run across Guyana. All of Guyana main rivers starts from mountain in this region . Example : Demerara river starts from the Makari Mountains and Essequibo river starts from the Komoa mountains.

In Guyana our rivers start from rainfall on the mountains in the Highland region .
Activities that relates to the weather of the highland region

The heat and constant rainfall helps the rain-forest grow fast in this region, all year round logging of trees are done and mining of gold and diamond except when there are floods from from too much rain. Due to the climate of this region lots of insects and mosquito live there , these mosquitoes cause diseases such as Malaria . Farming is not done in this region due to the soil being rocky from all the mountains in the area but the indigenous people hunt for their food .The heavy rainfall creates lots of swampy area which make travelling very difficult so this area is sparsely populated mostly Amerindians live there along with miners and loggers .

Hilly sand and clay region

This region is cover 1/4 or 25% of Guyana . The climate is hot days
and cool nights with relief rainfall

This region has forest and logging is done all year around . The land has many hills made of sand and clay . Sand mining is done all year around in this region which supply sand to other regions for who use it for building . People also farm a lot in the region foods such as pineapple , citrus fruits , vegetables and ground provision. The main economic activity that is done in the region is Bauxite mining
